Public consultation on the Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy

Overview

This is where you can share your feedback on the draft Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy. You can answer as many or as few questions as you like, save your progress, and come back later if needed.

What this consultation is about

The Ministry of Health is asking for your feedback on the draft Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This Strategy will guide how the health system improves mental health and wellbeing in New Zealand over the next 10 years.

Your feedback will help shape the final Strategy as well as a three-year implementation plan to drive change and accountability.

Public consultation is open from 8 April to 18 May 2026.

Before you start

Before you begin it’s helpful to know:

Consultation closes at 5pm on 18 May 2026.

Please make sure you have completed and submitted the survey by then or you won’t be able to make any changes and your feedback won’t be included in the final analysis. 

At any time, you can use the 'Save and come back later' button at the bottom of the page to save your progress and complete the consultation later. You will be emailed a unique link to return to your saved submission.

How to provide feedback

You can share your views in the following ways:

  • Complete the online survey below. Select the ‘Share your views’ link below to begin
  • Take part in facilitated consultation sessions, including lived experience run hui and sessions for specific communities.   
  • Use the community toolkit to run your own discussions and submit collective feedback. 
  • Email or post a completed submission form
